Every year, the World Economic Forum (WEF) conducts research on gender inequality in 146 countries. The research examines economic participation, access to education, life expectancy/health, and political influence.
According to this year Global Gender report 2023, Netherlands remains at the 28th position, just like last year. Our country has improved by 1 percent overall compared to last year, but in comparison to our neighboring countries, it is a small improvement.
Belgium has climbed four places this year and entered the top ten. Germany has also risen four places to the sixth position. The Scandinavian countries continue to lead the ranking: Iceland has secured the first place for the fourteenth time, followed by Norway and Finland.
